Sewing a gray & yellow skirt
The next project will be a skirt (not done with the crochet poncho, just switching up temporarily to keep interest). Sewing is much more challenging than crocheting so I can only do it in small doses 😂
The waist is obviously temporary, trying to visualize what it will look like once the pleats are solidified. So far I've connected 3 identical panels into one round piece (I had some random stuff cut up to make something else before I abandoned the project, this is my attempt to repurpose it and actually finish a sewing project). The white waist band /sash was constructed for the abandoned project but I plan on incorporating it into this one in a somewhat different and hopefully more achievable way. The length is good, the volume is good, and I love this fabric so I'm still feeling good about this project 😂
Next up will be to make the waist band. I don't really know how to work with elastic and my mini sewing machine is really finicky with materials (it handles plain cotton like a champ but has no adjustable settings and can't do any stretchy fabrics or elastic pieces so I'm somewhat limited). I plan to do a drawstring type deal with the white sash. I don't like the length of it though so I'm going to improvise and cut it in half and attach it on each side of my hips rather than try to wrap it the whole way around. No idea how it'll turn out but it's the only thing I could think of that didn't involve zippers or buttons or some other complex fastening methods.
After the waist band, I want to put in a plain white lining (is this the best order to do things you may ask? Idk but I'm learning by doing), hem it all up, and finally if it is acceptable enough to finish put one or two white patch pockets on the front.
