A Foray Into Quilting

As a brand new seamstress, the obvious project to try next is a quilt , of course! I had a lot of fun choosing the fabrics for this, especially a couple of my "white" fabrics- I found these cute botanical prints at (don't judge me) Walmart and am obsessed with them.

After 4 or 5 hours of cutting, I had an absolute ton (I did not try to count at all) of 3.5" squares for my blue and white blocks. I have some yellow fabric that I planned to include, but I'm still on the fence about it and will have to run out to a different store to see what other options are available before I put something I don't completely love into my quilt.

As you can see, I don't have any big work spaces well suited for a project like this (I have lots of space on the living room floor, but I also have a cat) so I'm just using a large scrap of black flannel for a small degree of mobility. I probably could have at least made my bed before I took the picture, but what's done is done. So here are the nine C (all blue) blocks, next up I'll arrange the 16 B (mix of blue and white) blocks, and then sooner or later I'll have to either brave the pacific northwest rain and get a different fabric to replace the yellow, or just suck it up and use what I have. We shall see.
Project start date: December 8, 2019
